Why is it worth using a training plan?

I do the planning for you

Whether you find a plan online or get one from a trainer, following a pre-scheduled program takes the guesswork out of your training. Can’t decide when or what types of training you should include in your training? Having a pre-defined plan means you can forget about it all and just run.

Your training is cyclized for you

Most of the training plans are designed to achieve the highest level of fitness at the moment of the race for the goal. It does this by periodizing your training so that you gradually build up your fitness by preventing you from hitting peaks or overtraining too quickly.

It builds up on rest days

Many enthusiastic runners choose to run every day, either because they love to do it or because they hope it will improve their performance. Adequate rest days are an important part of training that some runners forget, but since most training plans include at least one rest day in the schedule, you’ll regularly remind yourself to take a day off.

It can help you get out of your routine

When you train alone and follow your own plan, it’s easy to fall into the trap of doing the same few workouts over and over again. If you get bored with what you are currently doing, a training plan created by someone else will likely make you do different workouts to spice up a bit.

It gives you confidence

Finally, following an expert-created training plan will help you feel confident when you reach the goal race starting line knowing that you have followed the program, done the work, and are ready to drop your quick time.
